I've been following Weight Watchers all day (of course) and being very disciplined. I've also ridden a wonderful ride with Dad. We were planning for a 30 miler with close to 2,000 feet of climbing but we ended up with 25 miles. Dad was a little tired out (from his pre dawn riding in Missouri) and it was threatening rain.
We never did get rained on except toward the very end and even then just soft sprinkles. For the most part, it was perfect out with a combination of overcast grey skies and blue skies with puffy clouds. Temps were surprisingly cool, and the air so fresh. I wish I could bottle that air and take it with me. I did have to take a puff off my Albuterol a few times after I swallowed a bug, but for the most part I had no issue.
Dad said he was having a blast several times and seemed very happy. I said on here yesterday that I'd make it up to him for hurting his feelings last night, and I think I may have. We took our time and stopped down by the Cumberland River again. We thought we saw snakes or turtles swimming but upon closer inspection (no, I didn't jump in the river), we realized that what we were seeing were just branches of some old log that must have falling in and floated upstream.
When we got back from our ride, Mom had made us salads and a stir fry. We'd toyed with the idea of going out to dinner, but I was personally more thrilled to get Mom's cooking. I love my Mom's salads and for some reason I can never make one like hers when I'm in my own kitchen.
I also helped JT set her blog up. I want her to write and for us to blog back and forth. That was my initial intention for setting this blog up (well, that and using it as a daily journal). Finally, she's with the program. And now we're watching a dreadful scary movie about some chick stuck in Russia at a haunted farmhouse. It's creeping us out. This is as exciting as it gets in Fried Chicken Land but that's alright with me. We may go out later and catch fireflies. But then again, I may not - I've got mosquito bites all over me from where those bugs have damn near eaten me alive.
